She was born Nov. 6, 1934 in Biddeford, Maine, the only child of Israel and Aline Caron. She attended the Durrell School in Arundel and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1953.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Reginald LeBarge and her only son, Michael LeBarge. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy LeBarge of Arundel, Maine and Dolores Cluff and husband Allen of Hampton, Connecticut; her only grandson, Thomas LeBarge and her daughter-in-law Lorri LeBarge, both of Chesapeake, Virginia. Being her only grandson, Thomas, was her pride and joy. She constantly shared his accomplishments, including making the Dean’s List several years in a row.
She enjoyed sports. She played baseball during elementary school and half-court basketball at Thornton Academy. Her three children all played sports and she was dedicated to attending all their games. She served on the Arundel Recreation Committee for many years. Jeanne loved the Red Sox to the point of obsession, watching their games religiously and insisting on no distractions while she watched.
Jeanne worked all her life starting as a soda jerk at Hill’s News and at the end of her career working for several private families that she totally enjoyed as a private assistant.
Jeanne enjoyed spending time with friends and family and prided herself on her sense of humor. She had too many friends to list, but there were several lifelong friendships she cherished: Joanne and Don DeWitt, Suzanne and Ben Madore, Doris Taschereau, Eunice Rivard, Elizabeth Carroll, and Julie and Gerard Coulombe to name a few.
During her last few weeks of life she thoroughly enjoyed the visits from a multitude of friends. She stated on many occasions “if I knew that it would be this much fun to die I would have done it years ago.” She also enjoyed providing a list of assignments to her two daughters, always beginning with the phrase “and another thing.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Arundel Historical Society, 3 Talbot Drive, Arundel, Maine 04046.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care from the staff, especially all the nurses, on the third floor of Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford; Greenwood Center in Sanford; and Hospice of Southern Maine.
Visiting hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, 178 Elm St., Biddeford with a graveside service immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 120 West St., Biddeford.
