SACO — Eleanor Sczymecki, 94, of Saco, passed away Thursday afternoon on May 10, 2018, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford.

She was born in West Kennebunk on Feb. 12, 1924, a daughter of James and Maria (Kilakos) Drakoulakos. She was educated at Biddeford High School.

Eleanor was employed in the Ladies Department of the Men’s Shop in Saco for 17 years. In 1991, she moved to Ocala, Florida until returning to Saco in 2015.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles and needlepoint and was an accomplished seamstress. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her great-grandchildren. The family will cherish the many memories they shared together.  

Eleanor was a member of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco.

She was predeceased by her first husband Menelaos “Manny” Koutoulakos in 1989, by her second husband Steve in 2009 and by her siblings Jimmy, Everett, Charlie, Helen and Athena. 

She is survived by four daughters, Stephanie Koutroulis of Biddeford, Anne Maragus and her husband John of Wells, Sandra Miminos and her husband Mark “Mario” of Burlington, Massachusetts and Selina Koutoulakos of Saco. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Dwight, Melissa, Anthony, Gregory, Karla, MariAnn, Christo, Pamela and Peter, eight great-grandchildren Blain, Abigail, Ryan, Madison, Maria, Miles, Stephanie and Manny, one great-great-grandson Benjamin and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Demetrios Cemetery in Biddeford.
