PORTLAND
Tate Matheny had two hits and three RBIs, and Matthew Kent tossed five scoreless innings as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 7-2, in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Kent (1-1) picked up the win after he struck out seven while allowing two hits.
Portland took the lead in the first when Matheny hit a two-run triple and then scored on a single by Jhon Nunez.
Game two
Dedgar Jimenez tossed a two-hit complete game and Luke Tendler homered and had two hits, driving in three, as the Portland Sea Dogs topped the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 7-2, in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Jimenez (1-2) picked up the win after he struck out nine and walked one while allowing two runs.
Johnny Magliozzi (0-1) went one inning, allowing five runs and four hits while walking two for Binghamton.
