GORHAM— The Little East Conference announced Monday afternoon that University of Southern Maine freshman Cam Meier of Bowdoinham is among the athletes receiving weekly honors for their performances at the 2018 Little East Conference and New England Alliance Championships this past Saturday.
Meier was picked as the LEC Men’s Track Rookie of the Week.
Earning the first LEC weekly honor of his career, Meier was the LEC champion in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:52.71, and placed fourth in the 1,500, crossing the finish line in 4:08.64.
In the Alliance scoring, featuring 12 schools from the Little East and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), Meier was third in the 5,000 and seventh in the 1,500.
Helped by Meier’s performances, the Huskies won their fourth consecutive, and eighth in the last 11 years, LEC outdoor track and field championship. USM edged the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth by one point, 145-144, to bring home the title.
