TOPSHAM
Hannaford’s Topsham location says some of its lean ground beef purchased last week could have metal fragments in it and should not be eaten.
According to a Friday news release, packages of the 80 percent lean ground beef purchased at the store Monday, April 23 with an April 24 sell-by date, “may contain metal fragments that should not be consumed.”
The packages can be returned to the store for a full refund.
No injuries or illnesses had been reported, according to the Friday advisory.
The store issued a recall of lean ground beef in December 2013 a precaution after small metal food packaging clips were found in an area where beef had been ground.
