BATH — Bath Iron Works took down Smith-Tobey, 4-1 as the Bath Cal Ripken baseball season began over the weekend.
Gage Suitter pitched three innings with nine strikeouts for the win. Eli Sommers pitched one inning with one strikeout in relief.
Whalon Rhorer led BIW with a single and two runs batted in.
Smith-Tobey’s Oscar Nelson fanned 10 hitters, while Fletcher Mcdonough had one strikeout. Nelson had the only hit for Smith-Tobey.
