The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says a man armed with a hand tool as a weapon broke into a residence in Nobleboro Monday morning and tried without success to steal valuables from the homeowner.

Lt. Michael Murphy described the intruder as a white man, about 20 years old, 6 feet tall, with blond wavy hair and a thin build.

The sheriff’s office also released an artist’s sketch of the man Monday night.

Murphy said the man was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, light pants and tan work boots. He was carrying a black backpack with brown trim.

“The male subject attempted to steal valuables from the owner and displayed a type of hand tool as a weapon. After a brief confrontation, the man fled without obtaining anything,” Murphy said.

He was last seen fleeing the area in a green early 2000s Ford Explorer. The incident, which took place at a home on Center Street, was reported at 8:30 a.m.

Anyone with information about the man or who might have security footage of the area is asked to contact Detective Terry Michaud at 882-7332 or tmichaud@lincolnso.me.
