TOPSHAM
Topsham police say they are investing an armed robbery that took place Tuesday night at the Topsham Fair Mall.
The robbery was reported at Sun Tan City at 8:32 p.m. Police say a man displayed what is believed to have been a semiautomatic firearm and demanded money. He then fled the area with an undetermined amount of cash.
A search of the area was unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as a white male between 6 feet and 6 feet and 2 inches, wearing a long dark hooded jacket with his face covered.
Topsham Police Lt. Fred Dunn said this morning that police don’t know if he is the only suspect involved. Witnesses didn’t see which way he went after he left Sun Tan City.
Police are also working with the FBI to see if the robbery is linked to the recent string of robberies in southern Maine that began March 20.
Anyone with information related to the Sun Tan City robbery should contact Detective Mark LaFountain at the Topsham Police Department at (207) 725-4337, ext. 2213 or email him at mlafountain@topshammaine.com.
