One of the great assets of living in Wiscasset is how handy our downtown businesses are. On a wet fall day or an icy winter one, I can pull my car right up in front of Treats to grab a bite and a hot cup of tea. Just a few steps down the sidewalk and across Main Street are many other inviting, one-of-a-kind shops.
Storefront parking makes stopping by these local businesses easy, both for those of us who live here and for visitors passing through. MaineDOT’s plan to eliminate parking along Main Street would decrease access and jeopardize the well-being of our village center.
Wiscasset residents, let’s not allow this to happen! Please join me in voting YES on April 17 to support the lawsuit challenging this damaging project.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
