Healing and Curing
During his life on earth Jesus went about healing and curing the sick, the blind, the deaf, and those possessed by demons. We will never know how much of that was healing and how much was curing, but my guess is that is included a whole lot of both. We tend to think in terms of absolutes; curable or incurable, and forget the areas in between where life unfolds. Curing means eliminating all evidence of disease, while healing goes beyond to include the restoration of mental, emotional and spiritual vitality. Healing comes from within. Healing restores the balance and harmony to the body, mind and spirit and when both curing and healing take place the result can be magical. Few things in life have the healing power that can be found in the touch of another human being. Much of Jesus’ healing ministry involved human touch. We all have the power to heal and it can involve something as simple as a kind word or deed, a listening ear, a loving touch or an act of forgiveness. We carry this power within us, so let’s be generous and spread it around wherever we go.
