LEWISTON — Police arrested a Lisbon man Wednesday and charged him with terrorizing after he threatened to blow up a state office building.

Lisbon Police say they received a tip Wednesday that Alexander Hanks, 24, of 30 Sabattus Creek Drive, Lisbon threatened on social media to blow up a Department of Health and Human Services building. Police contacted DHHS and began an investigation, according to a statement from the Lisbon Police.

They obtained an arrest warrant for Hanks and a search warrant for his home. No firearms or bomb-making materials were found.

Hanks was arrested in Lewiston about 6 p.m. Wednesday by Lisbon police, who were assisted by Lewiston police. He was taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.

He was charged with terrorizing, a Class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison. Bail was set at $2,500 cash.

His first court date is scheduled for June at Androscoggin County Superior Court in Auburn.
