Police say speed and alcohol may have contributed to a crash that seriously injured a Casco man Wednesday night in Harrison.
A witness called police around 8:40 p.m. to report a vehicle had struck a tree on Main Street in Harrison near the boat launch and the driver was bleeding profusely. Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies arrived to find 23-year-old Noah Goodness with serious injuries.
Deputies say Goodness was traveling into Harrison from Bridgton on Main Street when he crossed into the oncoming lane, left the road and struck a large tree. His 2004 GMC Sierra was destroyed in the crash.
Goodness was extricated from the pickup truck by first responders from the Harrison Fire Department and United Ambulance. He was taken by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with traumatic leg injuries and multiple broken bones.
The injuries are classified as serious but are not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.
The investigation into the crash continues, but police believe speed and alcohol were factors. The crash was reconstructed by a team of investigators from the sheriff’s office.
