
The Boathouse Restaurant is opening up within the existing The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel in Kennebunkport.
Justin Grimes, who is the managing director for the Kennebunkport Resort Collection has announced the opening and the appointment of Kennebunk native John Shaw as the BOathouse Restaurant’s executive chef.
Shaw has worked for the Tides Beach Club, also located in Kennebunkport, for the last seven years.
He’s created his own new twist on the classic Maine menu for the Boathouse Restaurant.
Shaw will feature fresh seafood with Asian influences mixed in. As well, he will bring over signature dishes of his from the Tides.
“Chef Shaw’s creative and approachable ideas to present fresh-caught seafood and locally inspired dishes – in a brighter and livelier environment – will revitalize the restaurant for both the community and visitors,” said Grimes.
Some dishes that can be expected is seared shrimp and scallops with lobster fried rice and lobster spring rolls.
The Boathouse Restaurant is located right on the waterfront of the Kennebunk river steps from Dock Square. The hotel has been redesigning the restaurant for the spring opening.
Both the indoor and outdoor dining areas have been rethought to make a better bar space and make that atmosphere more social and fresh. The restaurant also is looking to fill its staff and is looking for line cooks, servers, bartenders, and hosts.
The Boathouse Restaurant is located at 21 Ocean Ave. in Kennebunkport.
