SANFORD — Donald A. Herrick, 81, of Sanford, passed away early Sunday morning on March 18, 2018, at RiverRidge Center in Kennebunk.
He was born in Saco on May 6, 1936, a son of Edwin and Rita (Boutin) Herrick.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Earlier, Donald was employed as a machinist in Biddeford for many years. He also built docks as another source of revenue. In August 1978, he married his wife Ruth. He then worked for Pratt & Whitney for 12 years, retiring due to illness in 1995.
Donald enjoyed playing the accordion. He was avid sports fan, following football and baseball. He also loved taking day trips with his wife Ruth and the special places they would like to visit.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Ruth (Seigars) Herrick, three children, three step-children and one brother, Eugene “Hurricane” Herrick.
Burial will be at a later date in Cranberry Horn Cemetery in Harpswell, Maine.
Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
