BRUNSWICK
It isn’t easy being green in Maine, making the switch to solar energy difficult.
Friends of Merrymeeting Bay is hosting an event Friday that will highlight “trials and tribulations of making clean energy policy in a hostile political environment and their hopes for the future,” according to a press release.
Giving the presentation will be Dylan Voorhees, Natural Resources Council of Maine Climate and Clean Energy director, and Maine House Rep. Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham.
Voorhees has worked on wind power for the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs in Massachusetts, and on sustainable land use for the Vermont Forum on Sprawl. Previously he taught eighth grade.
Berry is House chairman of the Maine Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology. He is also vice president for business development of Kennebec River Biosciences, a Maine-owned, for-profit lab working to improve the health and sustainability of aquatic farms and fisheries worldwide.
The event starts at 7 p.m. at Curtis Memorial Library.
All of the FOMB Speaker Series events are free, open to the public and supported by Patagonia Inc. in Freeport. For more information, call (207) 666-3372, email edfomb@comcast.net or visit fomb.org.
