School, the fourth time the store has taken part in the class assignment. On hand for the event were Salvation Army
Development Coordinator Bil Moriarty and store manager Christine Alves. Students learned about the history of the
Salvation Army and the services offered at the Adult Rehabilitation Center in Portland. Students were tasked with finding appropriate clothing on a budget for job interviews that they would later participate in with local Brunswick businesses. Students spent more than an hour looking for items and when they were ready to check out, they were told per the order of administrator Major Ronald Bernardi that the items they found were at no cost to them. Moriarty explained it was the Salvations Army’s way of being a part of the local communities they serve and giving back to the next generation.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
