A tractor trailer jacknifed on the Maine Turnpike around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday in the northbound lane between exits 32 in Biddeford and 36 in Saco, causing a chain reaction, said Maine Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.
All but one of the vehicles involved, including two tractor trailers, had to be towed from the scene, according to The Associated Press.
“No one was injured, fortunately, but it did close the road for a time,” said McCausland.
Northbound traffic in the area was closed completely for about 45 minutes, and the highway didn’t completely reopen until 9:45, according to the AP.
McCausland said the accident was caused by the driver driving too fast for road conditions.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
