Spring Ahead
No sooner do our yards become free of snow than we get walloped with another foot or so of the white stuff. On the plus side Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend and one hour of daylight gets shifted from early morning to the late afternoon, which boosts our spirits and gives us that hopeful feeling that Spring is just around the corner. The shift creates an added hour of darkness in the early morning, just before the world takes possession of our thoughts, and it provides us with an opportunity for prayer. Jesus knew the importance of early morning prayer, and of giving God first priority. What we do early in the day shapes the spirit of our minds, and sets the tone for the day ahead. Who knows what God will reveal to us in those early morning hours? March is a transitional month. The Spring Equinox is just around the corner, reminding us that we have survived yet another winter. Holy Week begins on March 25 which leads us to Easter Sunday on April 1st. March is a month of extremes, of change, of opportunities and expectations, and it is unpredictable. And it is not over yet.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
