The vigil will be a time of rememberance for the victims and families effected by the tragic school shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on Feb. 14, 2018. The event will include a candlelight and prayer service and special music such as violin, youth, guitar and more.
Speakers will incldue local school administrators, interfaith clergy from local churchs and the synagogue in Biddeford and others.
Organziers say as we come together in community, we celebrate our commonalities and our diversity. They are advocating for peace to be realized in our communities and in the world and are advocating for our children and safety in our schools.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
