Annesley Black

Annesley Black, Cheverus Alpine skiing: For the second straight year, Black swept the slalom and giant slalom at the Class A state meet. A junior, she won the giant slalom by .75 seconds in 1:46.94 and the slalom by .63 in 1:27.77, both over Brooke Juneau of Fryeburg Academy.

HONORABLE MENTION

Anna DeWolfe, Greely basketball: A junior guard, DeWolfe had 19 points, six assists, five steals and five rebounds as the Rangers defeated defending regional champ and previously undefeated Brunswick 66-49 in the Class A South championship game.

Maddie Marston, Yarmouth skiing: A freshman, Marston was one of the two girls in Class B to compete in both Alpine and Nordic state championship meets. In Nordic she placed 12th in classical and freestyle, and 11th in pursuit. In Alpine, she placed 11th in giant slalom and 22nd in slalom. The Clippers won the Class B Nordic title.

Chandler True, Lake Region basketball: A senior guard, True led the Lakers to the Class B South title. She had a team-high 12 points in a 34-31 semifinal victory over defending state champion Gray-New Gloucester, and 15 points, three assists and two steals in a 42-34 regional final victory over Freeport.

BOYS

Zac Manoogian

Zac Manoogian, Westbrook basketball: The senior guard was named the outstanding player in the Class A South tournament. In a 52-44 semifinal overtime victory against Biddeford, he scored 32 points – 15 in the fourth quarter and seven in overtime. In a regional final loss to Greely, Manoogian scored 35 points with four rebounds, two steals and only one turnover.

HONORABLE MENTION

Tommy Bancroft, Oxford Hills Nordic skiing: A sophomore, Bancroft placed among the top 20 in all five Class A events. He was 12th in slalom, 16th in giant slalom, 13th in Nordic freestyle, 19th in classical and 17th in pursuit. His brother, Cameron, also skied every event and placed as high as fourth in Nordic classical.

Tyler Bridge, Wells basketball: A junior, Bridge had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead top-seeded Wells to its second straight Class B South title with a 40-35 victory over Cape Elizabeth. On defense, Bridge limited Capers standout Finn Bowe to 11 points and was named the tourney’s top player.

A.J. Noyes, Falmouth Alpine skiing: A freshman, Noyes won the Class A slalom title by more than three seconds in a combined 1:23.72 to lead Falmouth to a second straight Alpine state championship. Noyes also placed third in the giant slalom.
