BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School Orange junior varsity basketball team used a 17-6 second quarter advantage to propel past visiting Mt. Ararat as the Dragons defeated the Eagles 46-35 to close out the season for both teams on Saturday.
Brunswick led after the first quarter 13-10 and 30-16 at the half. Mt. Ararat (11-6) outscored the Dragons 15-7 in the third quarter to close Brunswick’s lead to 37-31 heading to the fourth. Brunswick was able to extend its lead in the final frame behind its strong defensive half-court play.
Adria Doane led all scorers with 13 points for the Dragons while teammate Emily Cloutier added 11 points. Kendahl Dow spearheaded Brunswick’s defense along with Chloe Coombs and Hannah Fortier. Dow grabbed 15 rebounds to go along with six steals. The Dragons, who began the season 1-3, won their final 14 games to end the season 15-3.
Mt. Ararat was paced offensively by Maddie Daulerio, who led the Eagles with 14 points including three 3-point field goals. Lauren Magno registered seven points and five boards. Eliza Libby chipped in with two points, six rebounds and four assists.
