WELLS

Freeport used a 16-9 scoring advantage in the third quarter Tuesday night and went on to a 52-37 boys’ basketball win over Wells in Class B South action.

Toby Holt had six points in the quarter as Freeport added to its eight-point halftime lead.

Freeport improves to 10-7 with the win and sits comfortably in a postseason position, currently in eighth position.

The Falcons host Gray- New Gloucester on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Holt finished with 29 points for Freeport, and Eriksen Shea contributed 11 points.

Cam Cousins led Wells (11- 6) with 14 points and 18 rebounds.

CONY 83 MORSE 58

Amahde Carter scored 20 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Rams to a victory over the Shipbuilders in Augusta on Tuesday in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conferance action.

Jordan Roddy scored 16 points and had six assists and six steals, and Jake Dacus scored nine points and had eight assists for Cony as they improved to 12- 5.

Parker Onorato scored 25 points to lead Morse (2-15).

Morse hosts Camden Hills on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to end its regular season.

Girls basketball

CONY 47 MORSE 38

Cari Hopkins scored 15 points to lead the Rams to a Class A victory over the Shipbuilders in Bath on Tuesday evening.

Morse held a slight advantage after one quarter, 13-11, but fell by a point at the half, 21-20.

Cony used a 15-6 run that included four 3-pointers in the third quarter to pull away.

Sarah Caron scored 14 points, while Allee Cloutier added nine points for Cony (2-15).

Marissa Parks tallied 14 points for the Shipbuilders (3-14).

Morse is currently in eighth position in the Class A South Heal Points, potentially hosting a prelim game next week. They close out the regular season Thursday at Camden Hills at 6:30 p.m.

RICHMOND 46 WINTHROP 45

Richmond jumped out to a five-point lead in the first quarter and hung on to post a 46-45 win over Winthrop in a Mountain Valley Conferance girls’ tilt on Tuesday.

Sydney Underhill-Tilton led the Bobcats with 22 points, while Ashley Abbott chipped in with nine. The Bobcats finish the regular season 13-5 and currently are positioned in sixth in Class C South Heal Points.

The Ramblers (7-11) were paced by Jillian Schmelzer with 12 points, while Layne Audet tallied eight and Natalie Frost added seven.

OAK HILL 42 LISBON 28

Oak Hill put its offense into high gear starting mid-game on Tuesday and raced away to a 42-28 win over Lisbon in more late-season girls’ basketball action.

Abby Nadeau led the 14-4 Raiders with strong 14-point performance, while Desirae Dumais chipped in with 12 points.

The Greyhounds fell to 6- 12, capping their season with 12 points from Giana Rousseau.
