TURNER — Morse outscored Leavitt, 16-10 in the final quarter but came up short as the Hornets came away with a 44-36 victory in girls high school jayvee basketball action on Friday.

Leavitt held leads of 13-7, 25-11 and 34-20 at the quarter break. The Hornets were 7- for-24 from the charity stripe, while the Shipbuilders were 5-for-11.

Morse was led by Abby Carpenter’s 16 points, while Julia Goddard registered eight points and Hannah Gates added four. The Hornets were led by Georgia Brown’s game-high 17 points, followed by Kaitlyn Anair.

The loss sets Morse at 2-11 and hosts Cony tonight.
