BIDDEFORD — McArthur Library in Biddeford will be hosting the Patricia Coture, president of the Female Firefighters of Maine, for a short talk about household safety at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3.
The program will last about 45 minutes.
This introduction to safety will include many topics, preparing an escape route for your family, how to get out of a burning building safely, smoke detectors and cooking hazards.
With cold winter weather upon us, now is the perfect time to ask questions about space heaters, candles, power outages and generators.
This is a family friendly event and is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
