GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine men’s track and field squad turned in some if its best performances of the season Saturday, competing at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston and the USM Open III meet at the Costello Sport Complex field house.
Freshman Cam Meier of Bowdoinham and Mt. Ararat High School had an impressive run in the 3,000 meters (8:46.21) to meet the New England Division III Championships standard, and now ranks ninth in the region.
Fellow Mt. Ararat Eagle and senior Justin Pierce gave USM a 1-2 finish in the 400 (53.69), and was third in the high jump (6-02).
Sophomore Nick Harriman of Lisbon was runnerup in the mile (4:36.05).
The Huskies travel to Bowdoin College this upcoming Saturday for a quad meet with Bowdoin, Bates and Colby in their final preparation for the Little
East Conference and New England Alliance Championships on Feb. 10.
