STANDISH — Noah Malone scored a game-high 26 points with seven rebounds Saturday to lead South Portland to a 67-43 victory against Bonny Eagle in an SMAA boys’ basketball game.
Scott Lewis added seven points and nine rebounds for South Portland (11-3), which took a 53-31 lead into the fourth quarter.
Zach Maturo scored 15 points for Bonny Eagle (5-9). Connor Sirois added 10.
MT. ARARAT 73, LEWISTON 58: Ryan Mello poured in a game-high 31 points as the Eagles (6-8) beat the Blue Devils (2-12) at Topsham.
Greg Malin and Tanner Greenleaf each added nine for the Eagles.
CHEVERUS 48, MASSABESIC 40: Will Shibles scored a game-high 18 points as the Stags (5-8) beat the Mustangs (3-10) at Portland.
Alex Schepis scored 13 points for Massabesic.
Owen Burke added 10 for Cheverus, which led 28-19 at halftime.
WELLS 54, KENNEBUNK 49: Matt Sherburne scored 22 points and the Warriors (8-5) won in double-overtime against the Rams (10-3) at Wells.
Cam Cousins added 11 points for Wells.
Kyle Pasieniuk led Kennebunk with 13 points.
CAPE ELIZABETH 63, FREEPORT 37: Finn Bowe scored 21 points for the Capers (9-5), who led 24-11 after the first quarter and defeated the Falcons (7-7) at Cape Elizabeth.
Liam Jacobson added 14 points for Cape Elizabeth. Jacobson and Bowe each connected on four 3-pointers.
FOREST HILLS 81, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 33: Hunter Cuddy hit seven 3-pointers, all in the first half, and finished with 25 points as the Tigers (11-5) defeated the Lions (0-10) at Jackman.
Mason Jones led Greater Portland Christian with 21 points.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 49, BRUNSWICK 44: Josh Goldrup had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Ryan Creamer added 12 points and four assists for the Panthers (9-4), who rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Dragons (10-4) at Waldoboro.
HOCKEY
MT. ARARAT 11, LAWRENCE 1: Jacob Sargent scored twice, Noah Austin had a goal and four assists, and Nick Austin added three goals for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse (4-7), which had five goals in the first six minutes and beat Lawrence/Skowhegan/Maine Central Institute (0-11) at Brunswick.
CHEVERUS 5, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Justin Ray and Jackson Wilson each scored twice to lead the Stags (8-2-1) over the Capers (10-2-1) at Portland.
Lukas Church also scored for Cheverus. Gus Frankwicz answered for Cape Elizabeth on a power play in the second period.
YORK 4, GORHAM 2: Andrew Bertolini and Mark Engholm each had two goals and an assist as the Wildcats (7-4) defeated the Rams (3-8) at Gorham.
Lucas Roop scored from Cole Perreault and Alex O’Conner in the second period, and Jack Richards added a goal in the third for Gorham.
SOUTH PORTLAND 3, PORTLAND/DEERING 2: Caleb Rowland scored with 34 seconds remaining as South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete (8-5) rallied to defeat Portland/Deering (5-6-2) at Portland.
Joe Herboldsheimer opened the scoring in the first period, but Bradley McMains answered in the second for the Red Riots. Don Tocci scored as the Bulldogs reclaimed the lead early in the third, but Mitchell Adams tied it again with under nine minutes remaining.
LACROSSE
CHEVERUS: Dan Soule, who directed Gorham to the Class A South semifinals last season, was named the boys’ lacrosse coach.
Soule became the Gorham coach in 2012. Last season the Rams went 10-4 before losing to Scarborough in the semifinals. In 2016 he led Gorham to the Class A South final, losing to Scarborough.
Soule replaced Bill Bodwell, who left to coach Gordon College.
