BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School girls’ Orange junior varsity basketball team completed a busy weekend of play with two victories on the road.

The Dragons defeated Messalonskee, 38-37, on Friday evening in Oakland, and then defeated Morse Saturday afternoon in Bath, 62-41.

Against Messalonskee the Dragons commanded a 22-11 first-half lead as both offenses struggled to hit their shots. The Eagles outscored the Dragons, 26-16, in the second half, but Brunswick held on as Messalonskee failed to score on a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Adria Doane paced the Dragons by scoring a game-high 12 points. Doane protected the post for Brunswick, collecting 14 rebounds and blocking three shots. Emily Cloutier and Tansiha McKenzie were also effective at both ends of the court as the duo split 16 points while creating Messalonskee turnovers with their ball-hawking play on defense.

The Dragons’ cold shooting streak continued early against Morse as the Shipbuilders led 8-6 after the first quarter.
