TOPSHAM — The Brunswick Junior High School girls seventh-grade basketball team took on “Battle of the Bridge” rival Mt. Ararat on Thursday and came away with a hard-fought 30-24 victory.

The Huskies jumped out quickly, carrying a 22-6 lead into the half.

Kelsie Carlton and Sophia Morin led the way offensively with 10 points each. Jordyn Cummings added six and Ellie Sullivan four.

The Huskies played shutdown defense that held every Eagle player to five points or less. Hannah Lay and Gabby Swain played aggressive defense, and Ellis Noetzel helped keep the Eagles’ guards in check.
