South Portland is the best place to live in Maine, according to Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live 2017 listing, released Friday.

In a short write-up, posted with a photo of an event at Bug Light Park, the magazine highlights the city’s beautiful vistas, rocky coastline and landmarks such as historic Fort Preble and Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse.

“But it’s not just the waterfront that attracts residents,” the magazine concludes. “South Portland has become a huge retail hub for the area … and boasts ultra-low unemployment with projected job growth of 4.61 percent by 2021.”

The magazine also notes that the city’s population is 25,799 and its median household income is $56,472.
