BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School girls jayvee Orange basketball team opened up with a 16-5 first-quarter advantage in defeating Cape Elizabeth, 51- 34 on Friday.

The Dragon press led by Hannah Fortier, MacKenzie Dorr and Chloe Coombs disrupted the Capers’ offensive flow to spearhead the advantage.

Cape Elizabeth adjusted and closed Brunswick’s lead to 25-21 at halftime. But, the Dragons used a 26-13 second-half advantage to close the game as the defense, led by Tanisha McKenzie, impressed in the half-court game.

Fortier, Adria Doane and Kendall Dow combined to score 36 points for Brunswick. Dow was a catalyst off the glass as she hauled in 14 rebounds.

Meghan Gerety scored 12 points to lead the Capers.
