BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford boys basketball team went into Tuesday night’s Class A South showdown looking to continue its hot start, but the Tigers would go cold from the field as visiting Falmouth picked up a 45-32 win.

The win was a big one for the Yachtsmen as it gave longtime head coach Dave Halligan his 500th career victory.

Halligan’s squad would take advantage of the Tigers’ icy start from the field — Biddeford shot just 4-of-30 in the opening half — as Falmouth took a 30-15 lead into the break.

Biddeford would outscore Falmouth 17-15 over the final two quarters but it wouldn’t be enough to erase the early deficit.

The Tigers, who fell to 3-1, were led by Kyle Norton with 11 points and Jerome Criado with eight points.

Sam Manganello led Falmouth (3-1) with 14 points. Alex Marcotte added 10 points, while Niklas Hester had nine points and Jack Bryant chipped in eight.

Marshwood 50, Kennebunk 32

The Marshwood Hawks and Kennebunk Rams entered Tuesday’s Class A South girls basketball clash with identical 3-0 records.

Unfortunately for the Rams, it would be the visiting Hawks who would leave with a perfect record as they cruised to a win over Kennebunk.

Marshwood jumped out to an 18-0 lead to start the game, but Kennebunk would rally to cut the lead to six just before the half. The Hawks pulled away by hitting seven 3-pointers from six different players in the final two quarters.

Angelina Bisson led Marshwood (4-0) with 10 points.

Kennebunk (3-1) was led by Emily Archibald with 11 rebounds and eight points. Alaina Schatzabel added a team-high nine points in the loss.

Windham 56, Noble 41

Tori Exel put up 17 points and Raegan Kelly added 13 but it wasn’t enough as the Knights fell to Windham.

Noble would also get five points from both Amy Fleming and Kelsey Lessard.

Hannah Talon scored 17 points to lead Windham, which also got 15 points from Meghan Hoffses and 14 points from Tara Flanders.

The Knights will play at Bonny Eagle on Friday.

Wells 46, Sacopee Valley 21

The host Warriors used a balanced offensive attack to cruise to the win on Tuesday.

Kenzie Foss, Laney O’Brien and Franny Ramsdell all had nine points in the victory for Wells.
