All of us here at Tri-County Literacy would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s Candy Cane Festival such a success. Thanks to the creativity and hard work of our staff, our board, and more than 100 volunteers, the Dec. 9 event enjoyed a strong turnout, despite wintry weather.
We are very grateful to the Maine 3-Railers for their fabulous model train display and for donating a train for our raffle. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to our major sponsors, the James and Betty Jacobs Family Charitable Trust, Camden National Bank, Oyster Creek Electric, and Bath Savings Institution.
We also wish to thank Tess’s Market and Midcoast Pizza and More for their generous donations of food for our hardworking volunteers.
The success of this fundraising event will help us fulfill our mission of providing free literacy services in Cumberland, Sagadahoc, and Lincoln counties.
Thanks so much to all who participated!
Lucille Stott, chair
Tri-County Literacy Board of Directors

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
