Family Ties
Families lie at the center of God’s plan for our world. They are the basic units of society, and nothing is stronger than family ties. Our families love and support us in spite of our imperfections. Outside our homes we may put on our best fronts, but within the family we can relax and be who we are. Families will stand by us during times of adversity, and serve as refuge during the stormiest times of our lives. Within the family there is unconditional love, acceptance, forgiveness and healing power. It is where we feel the love of God the strongest, and it where we share our most precious memories. Families create the foundation that makes us into the people we are. When we reach adulthood we go forth into the world carrying our family values with us, and although many miles may separate us there is always the need to be together at holiday time or for important family milestones. At Christmas the airports will be jammed with people who will suffer almost any inconvenience just to be united with the families that are a source of joy to them. So as we prepare to visit the Holy Family this Christmas let us give thanks for the blessings of families everywhere.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
