On Dec. 30 starting at 1 p.m., Boothbay Railway Village will offer a special New Year’s Ride, which will allow families to take a heated steam train ride, enjoy the large model train and Christmas village display in the 1847 Boothbay Town Hall, and explore the exhibits on the lower campus including Harrington House decked out in 1940s Christmas style. Hot chocolate will be served in the Town Hall as well.
There is an option to upgrade tickets to First Class and board the restored Franklin & Megantic Coach No. 2. The coach was originally built in 1903 and it embodies the typical travel of the era with its plush walkover seats and mahogany interior.
Tickets for the New Year’s Ride are available in advance through www.railwayvillage.org. Reservations are strongly suggested. Standard tickets are $10, First Class $15 for attendees three years and older. Museum members participate for free in Standard Class but do need to make a reservation for their seats — no discounts on First Class. Children under three years old do not need a ticket.
Departures are planned at every half hour between 1-3 p.m. The museum may add later departures if demand exceeds capacity.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
