The Town Council unanimously and without comment approved a two-year contract, effective March 17, 2018 through March 17, 2020.
Under the terms of the town charter, the Town Council may renew the town manager’s contract for no more than two years.
The agreement will give the town manager a 2 percent cost of living adjustment each of the two years. Mead said his salary is currently $118,500.
The agreement states the Town council will conduct an annual written evaluation of the town manager’s performance and may increase the town manager’s compensation in recognition of that performance.
Mead said there is no change to his benefits in the new contract.
Mead began his position in September 2015. He has a long history in municipal work, and prior to working for Old Orchard Beach served as the Kennebunkport town manager.
“In my 14 years here, Larry is the sixth town manager with whom I have served,” said Assistant Town Manager Louise Reid in an email. “It is a pleasure to work with such a professional individual whose administrative, executive, and personnel skills are impressive. I appreciate all that I have learned under his mentorship.”
