CORNISH — Deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Cornish on Tuesday that knocked out power during the morning commute.

York County Sheriff William L. King Jr. said that at about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash in the vicinity of 396 Maple Street in Cornish.

“Upon arrival, deputies determined that Allen Lewis, 22, of Parsonsfield was driving east on Maple Street when his vehicle left the roadway,” King said.

The vehicle struck a utility pole and then careened off the pole and hit a tree.

“The impact caused the utility pole to break in half,” King said.

Power was disrupted in the area while a Central Maine Power crew replaced the utility pole.

King said that Lewis, who works the overnight shift at a warehouse, was driving home when the accident took place.

He was not injured in the crash and King said fatigue is listed as the cause of the crash.
