BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Junior High School eighth-grade girls basketball team opened the season Monday with a 52-40 loss to “Battle of the Bridge” rival Mt. Ararat.
The Huskies (0-1) began well, turning a 10-10 first-quarter deadlock into a 28-24 halftime lead.
However, the Eagles outscored Brunswick 14-5 in the third quarter for a 38-33 lead and pulled away in the fourth.
Emily Bontatibus led Mt. Ararat with 25 points, while Lilly Singleton chipped in 10.
Logan Brown and Kelsie Sullivan paced Brunswick with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
