PARSONSFIELD — Police allege a Fryeburg man who reported his truck stolen last month from a supermarket parking lot in Cornish deliberately destroyed it — with the help of a friend —  for insurnce purposes.

York County Sheriff Bill King said in early November, Dale Harrington, 51, of Fryeburg, reported his 2013 Toyota Tundra stolen from Call’s Shop N’ Save Store in Cornish.

He said deputies received information later that month that the vehicle was found in a field in Parsonsfield, extensively damaged. The truck is valued at $25,000.

Deputies launched an investigation and as a result, it was determined that Harrington and Harold Cole, 36, of Parsonsfield, conspired to destroy the truck for insurance purposes.

On Nov. 17,  Harrington was issued a summons charging Class B felony insurance fraud, and Cole was issued a summons charging aggravated criminal mischief.

Both men are scheduled to  appear York County Superior Court in Alfred Jan. 5.
