LIMINGTON — A week ago a  driver sped away when a York County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop him, but two days later, however, Kyle Needham, who was wanted on charges ranging from possession of methamphetamine to failing to show up in court, was behind bars.

The situation unfolded on Nov. 28, when Limington contract deputy Eric Tranque saw Needham, 30, of Standish, driving his car on Rout 25, near the intersection with Route 11.

Sheriff William King said Tranque knew Needham was wanted on drug related warrants, and attempted to stop him.

“Needham sped off toward into Standish at speeds approaching 100 mph with Tranque in pursuit,” said King in a statement released late Monday. “When the vehicle headed toward Bonny Eagle High School, Tranque terminated his chase.”

King said Tranque obtained a warrant charging Needham with violating conditions of release, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license and eluding a police officer.

King said Needham held at York County Jail on all charges in lieu of posting $10,000 bail.
