HOLLIS CENTER — Paul R. Magnant, 72, of Hollis Center, and formerly of Saco, passed away late Wednesday evening on Nov. 29, 2017, at home.

He was born in New Brunswick, Canada on July 22, 1945, a son of Raymond Principe and Annette (Michaud) Magnant. At the age of 1, Paul moved to the United States and was educated in Biddeford schools.

Paul married his wife Lorraine on Sept. 26, 1964. He was employed by the City of Biddeford for 43 years, retiring in 2007.

Paul was an avid sports fan. He played in the local softball league for many years, playing for the Rochambeau Club in Biddeford. He followed the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox and boxing. He also liked the outdoors from gardening to taking care of his lawn. Another of his favorite pastimes was to go out to eat with his family. The family has made many great memories that they will hold on to and cherish forever.

He was predeceased by one brother Richard Magnant.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Lorraine (Lachance) Magnant, his daughter Denise Girard and her husband Roland and his grandson Jordan Herrick and his wife Brittany. He is also survived by two sisters Doris Principe and her fiancée Michael Gagnon and Suzanne Bineau and her husband Leonard, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
