June was born May 27, 1923 in Andover, Maine, the daughter of Arthur “Bart” and Agnes Hutchins Noble, and attended Kennebunk High School.
June began her working career as a welder at the Kittery Naval Shipyard during World War II. She was also employed by Kesslen Shoe Shop in Kennebunk as a stitcher among the many positions she held there, more recently, she operated her own domestic cleaning business and worked for several caterers in the area.
She married Bernard W. Brown, and together made their home on the Sea Road.
Known for her sense of humor and quick wit, she was the glue that held the family together, and was the focal point of family gatherings. She was known to have attended 3 baby showers for her grandchildren in one day, and was always game for a family road trip. When she heard there was to be a trip, she had her bags packed, usually weeks in advance. Her trips included visits to many states throughout the country, and also to England, and Mission trips to Belize, Honduras and Mexico, where, in her mid-70s, she roofed buildings and dug trenches for piping. She had been asked to work in the kitchen, due to her age, and she replied “ I came to work, if I wanted to cook, I would have stayed home.”
June was a longtime active member of the Kennebunk Advent Christian Church, now known as Sea Road Church, where she taught her faith to many generations of young children in Sunday School, and was a deaconess for many years.
She is predeceased by her husband Bernard, two sons, Sanborn A. Brown, Dennis P. Brown, daughters Glenda Griffiths and Beverly Brown, grandchildren Blaine Brown, Dale and Cindy Griffiths, and great granddaughter Tasha Stanley.
Survivors include her daughters Linda Keene ( Skip) of Dayton, Betty Wacter (Bob) of Albany, Georgia, and Carol Andrews (Steve) of Arundel, a sister Betty Hamlyn of Wells, 26 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 49 great-great grandchildren, including a shower two months ago for Sabastian, who she was eager to have met in January.
