WATERVILLE — Kelsi McNamara scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half, helping St. Joseph’s open an 18-point lead on its way to a 79-50 victory over Colby in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday night.

Julia Champagne, Hannah Marks and Emily Benway each added 14 points as the Monks (5-1) won their fourth straight game. St. Joseph’s led 46-28 at the break.

Benway added eight rebounds.

Ainsley Burns scored 16 points to pace Colby (2-2). Katie McCrum had 12, while Haley Driscoll added 11.

UNE 83, GORDON 56: Olivia Shaw scored 18 of her 25 points in the first half, Jocelyn Chaput had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and the Nor’easters (5-1, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast) downed the Fighting Scots (2-3, 0-1) at Biddeford.

Shaw shot 10 of 12 from the field, and knocked down all seven of her shots in the first half as UNE rolled to a 43-29 lead.

The Nor’easters opened the third quarter on a 14-3 run, with Chaput scoring seven points.

Ashley Coneys added 12 points for UNE.

(3) NOTRE DAME 83, (22) MICHIGAN 63: Arike Ogunbowale scored 20 of her 32 points in the first half, and the Fighting Irish moved to 7-0 with a victory at Michigan (4-2).

Notre Dame earned another impressive win heading into its showdown with No. 1 UConn this weekend. The Irish held Michigan star Katelynn Flaherty to 13 points on 5-of-18 shooting. It was the first time all season she scored fewer than 20.

(6) MISSISSIPPI STATE 94, LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE 37: Teaira McCowan scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead Mississippi State over Louisiana-Lafayette at Jackson, Mississippi.

(15) MARYLAND 60, VIRGINIA 59: Kaila Charles scored Maryland’s final three points in the last 40 seconds to lift the No. 15 Terrapins (6-2) to a win at Virginia (3-5).

MEN

UNE 121, GORDON 113: Gavin Dibble scored 25 points, and the Nor’easters (2-4, 1-0 CCC) knocked down 17 3-pointers while holding off the Fighting Scots (1-2, 0-1) at Biddeford.

Six players hit at least two 3-pointers for UNE. Daron Hoges Jr. added 14 points, while Ryan Matthews had 13 for the Nor’easters, who led 60-44 at halftime.

UNE led by as many as 26 points in the second half before holding off a furious rally by Gordon, which got to within four.

(4) VILLANOVA 90, PENN 62: Jalen Brunson scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures as host Villanova (7-0) routed Penn (5-4).

Omari Spellman, Mikal Bridges and Phil Bridges added 14 points apiece and Donte DiVincenzo scored 12 for the Wildcats.

(13) NORTH CAROLINA 86, MICHIGAN 71: Luke Maye scored 27 points and host North Carolina (6-1) shot 55 percent to beat the Wolverines (6-2) in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Joel Berry II added 17 points on a bounce-back night for the Tar Heels, coming off a 63-45 loss to No. 3 Michigan State.
