A massive search for a missing West Bath man was suspended for the night Monday and will resume Tuesday, but officials say they have found evidence that could help them establish a timeline leading up to his disappearance.
Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald said in a statement that Edward “Ted” Berrett, 70, of 63 Beaver Brook Road, was reported missing by his family Sunday afternoon.
Berrett lives alone, is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 220 pounds, and has blue eyes and blondish-white hair. He was last seen wearing khaki pants. It is possible he was not wearing a shirt or jacket.
A warden service airplane, 20 game wardens, four game warden K-9 teams, Maine Marine Patrol officers and watercraft, deputies from the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, five Maine Search and Rescue dog teams, 30 Maine Search and Rescue volunteers, and one drone aircraft participated in Monday’s search, which concentrated in the areas of Beaver Brook Road and Hill Road.
Tuesday’s search and rescue effort will be based at the West Bath Fire Department on 162 Old State Road.
