SANFORD — Maine Transgender Network is pleased to announce the launch of a new support
group for transgender youth and their parents, guardians, or other significant adults, serving all of York County.
This group will gather in Sanford Unitarian Universalist Church’s Goodall Hall on the first and third
Tuesdays of each month.
These meetings will provide transgender youth with a safe, confidential space in which to confide their everyday struggles, ask advice of their peers, and build supportive friendships. They will also help parents and families find the joy as their child comes into their own, by giving adults a safe place to
talk through their reactions, emotions, difficulties, and delights.
MaineTransNet facilitates peer support groups for trans people and allies, as well as providing avenues for social networking and public dialogue. We direct people to available resources and provide training and education opportunities that utilize our expertise and experiences.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
