BIDDEFORD — Marcel Paul Lachance, 89, of Biddeford died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 at his home.

He was born Aug. 24, 1928 in Biddeford, a son of Wilfred and Lydia (Labbe) Lachance and attended local schools and St. Louis High School.

On July 12, 1947 he married Ruth Gertrude Cadorette at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

Marcel served in the United States Marine Corps in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

He was a self-employed general contractor for most of his working life retiring in 1990.

Marcel was an avid Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed golfing and shuffleboard, here and in Florida where he was considered a shuffleboard “pro.” Being the Guinea Road cribbage champion was something he would boast about.

Preceding him in death were Ruth Lachance, his wife of 63 years, and two brothers, Robert and Ralph Lachance.

Surviving are four daughters, Connie Lambert and her husband Dick of Biddeford, Raymonde “Raye” Lachance of St. Petersburg, Florida, Susan Bowdoin and her husband Tim of Biddeford, and Rachel Lachance of Saco; a son, Donald Lachance of Orlando, Florida; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct 31 in the Hope Chapel. Burial will be St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
