A storm system is expected to push through Maine late Sunday, bringing winds up to 50 mph and 1 to 3 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service office in Gray.
Winds will be heaviest along the coast and on inland hilltops, said weather service meteorologist James Brown. Wind gusts in those areas could exceed 50 mph, he said.
The service has issued a storm watch and small craft advisory for hazardous seas, warning of high winds and seas of of 14 to 19 feet late Sunday through Monday afternoon.
The service also is expecting heavy rain from late Sunday into early Monday, Brown said. Rainfall should be 1 to 3 inches along the coast, and possibly more in some inland areas, he said.
High temperatures should range in the low 60s both Sunday and Monday, Brown said.
