FRISCO, Texas — Donald William McIver Sr., 82, of Frisco Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 2, 2017.
He was born on July 18, 1935, in Barre, Vermont, to Bernard Angus and Irene (Benevides) McIver. He grew up in Saco, Maine and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1953. He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, before enlisting in the United States Air Force.
He began his aerospace career working on early defense missiles and rockets. At Cape Canaveral, Florida, he worked on every lunar landing mission and later retired after 33 years with Grumman Aerospace.
He is survived by Jean McIver his loving wife of 56 years; his sister, Dorothy McIver of Greenfield, Massachusetts; his daughter Kelly and husband Birken Olson, of Frisco, Texas; his son Donny and wife Amy McIver, also of Frisco, Texas; and grandchildren, Annika and Kjirsta Olson and Lucas and Madison McIver.
The Celebration of his life was held on Oct. 7 at First Baptist Church in Frisco, Texas.
