FREEPORT — The public will get an opportunity to share input on the town’s cultural plan at a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19, at the Freeport Community Library.

Cultural planning is similar to other kinds of community planning, except it tackles how a town wants to promote arts and culture. Freeport cultural plan objectives were discussed at a public meeting in September, and now Freeport Arts and Cultural Alliance is hosting another meeting to get more feedback on the plan.

The discussion will be based on surveys conducted earlier in the year by Reinholt Consulting, a consultation firm funded by the town and the FACA. Other research, such as how cultural plans have been successfully implemented in other communities, will also form a baseline for Freeport’s plan.

According to FACA, a cultural plan is important for the economic vitality of the town. Freeport Economic Development Corporation’s “Vision 2025 Action Plan” cited it as “essential to the Town’s future economic health and vitality.”
