WEST BATH
The town of West Bath in November will elect a new member to their board of selectmen, and two members to the West Bath School Board.
Two candidates are running to replace outgoing Selectmen Paula Nelson, who served three three-year terms on the board. She was reelected unopposed in 2014.
Running for the open seat is Marc Travis, who ran against and lost to Chair Peter Oceretko in 2016 and sits on the budget advisory committee. He will be opposed by Kathleen Lavallee on the ballot in November.
Robert McDaniel will run for reelection to the West Bath School Board. There is also an open seat on the school board — McDaniel, Richard Davis and Mary Wallace will vie for the two seats.
The town will host a Meet the Candidates Night on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. Town Administrator Adam Garland will moderate the forum.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
