LISBON — Lisa Goodwin, President of the Maine Town and City Clerks’ Association awarded Lisbon Town Clerk Twila Lycette with the 2017 Ethelyn Stuart Marthia Award at the Maine Town and City Clerk’s Association Networking Day on Sept. 12.

The memorial award was established in 2010 and is awarded a deserving clerk that has embraced many of the traits of its namesake, Marthia, who was described as a “magnificent individual” who served as a mentor and served clerks in numerous capacities.

Goodwin notes that Lycette mirrors the “same gentle manner and sense of humor” displayed by Marthia, shares the same knack as Marthia to know every clerk in Maine, and exhibits the same traits of service to the association by desiring to pass her knowledge on to better everyone. Lycette is always willing to help, mentor or contribute wherever she is needed.

Lycette has served on the Maine Town and City Clerks’ Association Executive Committee including as president, and chaired numerous committees as well as serving on her county association. She is a Certified Clerk of Maine with lifetime certification. Lycette received the distinction of Master Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She graduated from the New England Municipal Clerks Institute at Salve Regina University and is a recipient of the Maine Town and City Clerks’ Association Clerk of the Year award.

All of these accomplishments have been obtained while serving her community since 1986.
